Skins is being criticized for possibly breaking child pornography laws within the United States. It is wrong for those to be broken yet these kids are professional actors with their parents informed of the certain things they're expected to do. Still, look at the big picture. Ever since the radio, parents have blamed the media for most of teenage problems. It started in music with rock, then hip-hop, eventually video games and shows. Those are some factors that help create the problem but the problem starts at home. We see our parents most of the time, hear their crazy high school stories and sometimes feel the need to out do them. Some can't name their teenager's teachers yet they can name the cast of Jersey Shore or Desperate Housewives. Face it, parents can also be couch potatoes and what they watch may affect our decision making. Desperate Housewives is full of sexual content and when we see our parents watching that, we may think, hey, when I'm thirty with sexy abs, a nice smile and a long shlong, I'm going to sleep around every housewife I find... If this ever gets read by parents, I'll be criticized for my grammar, spelling, lack of class and whatever minor things but the big picture is that what I say is true. They can say, my teenager isn't like that...well then good for you but truth is, not everyone is your teenager.
Why is Johnny smoking dope?
His home life sucks, his parents don't listen to him. They just think that giving him everything will make him happy.
How did Mary get pregnant?
Her parents are relaxed because she has good grades. They don't want to hover over her because its unhealthy but at the same they don't pay attention to her actions.
Why did Eddie get in a fight?
Daddy said that to be a man means winning a fight, showing everyone you are worthy and strong.
Everyone blames something else for their mistakes and instead of blaming the media parents, blame yourself. Its hard to see reality and face the fact that you did something wrong but its not too late. Things can still be repaired. Have a talk with your son, your daughter. Try to be more involved and watch the things you say around us.
